I pointed out that they were chemically identical, but the pharmacist said she could not substitute it, and co-pay would be approximately $80. I took the Rx back to doctor and asked him to write a new Rx for fluocinolone acetonide 0%, which he did, and I was able to get a bottle twice the size packaged by DermOtic, for a co-pay of $5. I see that since experience, some web sites are now listing fluocinolone acetonide 0% as an approved generic substitute for DermOtic, but others are not. consumers beware, and avoid paying more than is necessary!
